Community Crusaders
In August, Campbelle was part of a week long summer camp at our beloved organization ENCOMPASS that was entitled Community Crusaders. And if I had been a great blogger in recent months, I would have filled you in about this great camp while she was doing it… but if you follow this blog – you’ll know that the time between May and now have been pretty slim in the entry sections. Anyway. The camp was this great place where each day the kids volunteered for a different cause and had a project that coincided with is. One day they planted trees at a community park. They picked up trash another day. They made treats and took them to a retirement home; and made cat toys and then volunteered some time at a animal rescue shelter. The last day of camp a war veteran come and spoke to the campers and told the kids how much they appreciate hearing from people back home. They then made goodie bags and mailed them to soldiers in Afghanistan.
Yesterday I received this photo from the camp director.
The first solider is holding Campbelle’s packet – with her picture and her thank you note. I am so proud of her and her little 7 year old unselfishness. And so thankful for places like Encompass and this great little camp they offer for presenting such an opportunity for our youth.
