Last days of summer

The past few weeks we’ve had some ‘down time’ after a crazy fun summer.  We tried to savor every bit of the lazy, schedule free, summery days.

017Campbelle and I had a girls day out.  We dressed fancy, did coffee, and shopped for high fashion things and lunched at a grown-up restaurant :-).  We had a great day.  I sometimes can not believe how grown-up that little girl is… where does the time go!!

While we were out for the day, the boys had their own fun.  They went exploring on Rattlesnake Lake.  There they have a great kids program where you can check out a nature back pack filled with all sorts of useful things to explore nature, along with a check list of things to look for on your hike.  Christian really dug it.

We also spent a day at the zoo.  Sadly, it was our first time to the zoo in a long long time.  Beckett thought it was pretty great and really was interested to see some of the animals.

On a particularly warm evening last week, we let the kids sleep in the tent in our back yard over night.   They had fun – that is Christian had fun until about 11:00pm and then decided that his bed was more cozy.  Campbelle braved it alone, but only made it until 3:30am.  Next summer we’ll try it again.

We also went on a field trip into the Asian market in Seattle with good friends of ours.  We shopped and looked at all the unusual stuff.  And then went home and cooked up a delicious dinner consisting of Pho soup, crab wantons, sticky rice and mangos and a few other yummy treats.

Oh summer, now that school is starting, you seem all but over.  And even though there’s a part of me that is ready for the consistency and routine of fall – I will indeed miss you summer!  It’s been a great one.

Looks like some fun activites to end the summer. I'm impressed that Campbelle stayed outside by herself (for atleast part of the night). Cameron spent a couple of nights in a tent also, but one was with his grandfather and one was with Jeff.
