Whistler

We just got back from a few days at Whistler Mt near Vancouver BC - site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  What a great holiday we had.  The weather was perfect - sunny and about 28 degrees.  The snow was powdery and oh so much fun.

The kids had a blast climbing on the snow mounds and sliding down.

Christian was so crazy about playing in the snow, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a kid so excited - he would literally throw himself down in some new fresh snow and just roll around - kinda like a dog.

Thursday Campbelle, Leif and I went skiing while August and Liv took Christian sledding.

The skiing experience was.... well let's just say... my husband is a saint, and one heck of a good skier.

I haven't skied and years - and was feeling a bit apprehensive about it - as well I should have.  I skied (if you can call it that) for about 2 hours and 28 falls.  I'm sure I provided a good laugh for nearby skiers that morning and I think it was an excellent decision to call it quits when I did - I was able to limb away with only a few muscles and my pride being sore.

(this picture was taken before - see how happy I am, and so hopeful!!)

Campbelle skied with Leif most of the time - I wish I would have had my camera to take pictures of them  - but Leif didn't trust me to carry it with me while I skied (it may have gotten damaged from all the falls).  He skied with her positioned between his skis.  When they got going really fast, she would just close her eyes until them came to a stop!  I think actual lessons will be in her future - my future on the slopes may consist of hot cocoa and a book next to a roaring fire.

The kids highlight of the trip was all the sledding they did, and did and did.

It really was so much fun- we'll definitely have to plan a trip back some winter.  And of course 2010!
